Erestor, Chief Counsellor of Imladris (also known as Rivendell).

Erestor was born on Aman, and grew up in the light of the Two Trees. His parents were Noldorin, loyal to Fëanor and his sons, and when Fëanor made his terrible oath, a young Erestor joined the host of Maedhros.

He took part in the Kinslaying at Alqualondë [whether he actually killed others may vary depending on 'verse]. He came of age on the journey to the shores of Middle-Earth, and served Maedhros loyally as an advisor, assistant and seneschal until Maedhros' bitter end. He helped raise Elrond and Elros, and went with Elrond to Lindon, where he served on Gil-galad's Council.

Erestor accompanied Elrond to the site of Imladris, and helped found and build it. He serves there now as Elrond's Chief Counsellor.
